Project Financing

The Swiss Confederation, in collaboration with the canton and the city of Geneva, aims at ensuring the long-term attractiveness of the “International Geneva” and Switzerland as a host country for international organizations. One of the central focus of its hosting policy consists in supporting international organizations wishing to improve the quality of their property portfolio. They have interest in providing a healthy, efficient, secure and sustainable work environment for their employees as well as visiting delegates. Switzerland supports their efforts in this area by providing housing loans on advantageous terms. The Canton of Geneva can also provide land for construction on favorable terms.

Practically, international organizations wishing to implement and carry out a real estate project in Geneva or Switzerland (renovation / extension / new construction) may apply for a loan to the host State. These requests are examined by the competent administrations and, when necessary, subject to approval by the respective parliaments.

Once approved, the loaned funds are made available to international organizations by the FIPOI, which manages them and ensures that their use corresponds to the agreed purposes.
